Thank you for visiting our website!

Oshimaya Drapery Shop was founded by Kosuke Oshimaya, the founder, who started his drapery business in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture in the Edo period (1603-1868).The company was established in Gosen-shi in 1906 (Meiji 39), and then in 1973 (Showa 48), Oshimaya Kimono Shop Ltd. was established, which continues to this day.

Gosen City is rich in water and is also famous for its silk, Shiose and Komaros.

Currently, we have two actual stores: the main Oshimaya Drapery Shop in Gosen-shi, Niigata Prefecture, and the Oshimaya Salon in Niigata-shi, Niigata, which is by appointment only. We mainly deal in dyed fabrics from all over Japan. We also provide support for wearing kimonos, such as dressing, washing, coordination, event planning, study sessions, etc.

The purpose of wearing a kimono really varies from person to person. We would like to share with our customers what they want to achieve by wearing kimonos and make their dreams come true together. We will of course explain the materials of our creations and the occasions in which they will be worn, but we will also make suggestions to suit your lifestyle and life goals. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

We have a small selection of kimono and obi fabrics on our shopping site. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to see more details. You can also visit our store to see more of our creations.
